Audition, Cold Reading & Taking Direction
Auditioning is part of the job. Often times, this is when actors get to act for the day!
What a great thing!
This class will give you the perspective that auditioning, while probably the most disliked aspect of the job for an actor, can be FUN and the best part of your day!
Using sides emailed to you two days before class, you will experience what it is like to audition for a role as if it were in real time.
Learn how to find you in the character and learn how to execute the scene, quickly.
This class will also have you do cold auditions/readings, where Jennifer will give you sides and you will have 5-10 minutes before you are expected to get up and audition. She will also give you adjustments and directions, so you can learn to adjust in the room without fear, think on your feet quickly, confidently and most importantly joyfully!
With the exception of theatre auditions, all auditions will be on camera.

Scene Work
Who am I? What is going on? What am I doing?
Knowledge is your power as an actor.
Be specific, make it simple and make it physically doable.
Working with various scenes from Film, Television and/or Stage, you will learn, through rehearsal, how to do the above three steps:
Jennifer learned this through David Mamet's Practical Aesthetics. Under the wing of one of the founders of this technique, Jennifer uses it to this day. She also uses a lot of sense memory, when the emotion is hard to bring up. She believes in using what ever it takes to get you there. And there are many different tools to help you along the way.
Learning this process, you will be confident in your ability!

Character development
You have it all inside you, learn how to access and apply it. Life is what is important as an actor. Make sure you fill your own personal life outside of acting with experiences that are wide and exciting to you. These experiences will inform you and give you more choose from when building your character. In every character there is you, learn how to tap into that and apply it!
Using different excercises ranging from finding character through physicality, finding character through improvisation, finding character through sense memory, you will discover what works best for you.
A very inspiring, physical class that opens up imagination.
